Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan first look poster released on January 2. The poster shows a sword with a golden hilt, bearing the tiger insignia, the Chola’s emblem along with the words ‘Beginning of the golden era’. Behind it is a fiery streak in the pink skies.

The film is an ambitious project inspired by the classic novel Ponniyin Selvan. The book traces the life of the most popular among the Chozha kings, Raja Raja Chozhan I. The casting of this historical fils are actor Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, actress Keerthy Suresh, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amala Paul, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Jyotika, supporting artist have been roped in to star in this film.
Screenplay space is sharing along with Mani Ratnam is Kumaravel. Costume designer is Eka Lakhani, makeup by Vikram Gaikwad,
choreography by dance master Brinda, action director by Sham Kaushal. The film is being jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Lyca’s Subaskaran. Siva Ananth is the film’s executive producer.
The locations of this historical film will be shoot in Tamil Nadu and Thailand, where most of the shooting will happen with over 500 junior artistes.
